Awakening
Records is pleased to announce the worldwide release of Sami Yusuf's third album
Without You. The highly anticipated album is finally out and available on and in
music stores worldwide. 'Islam's Biggest Rock Star' has become a household name
following the release of his first two chart-topping albums Al-Muallim and My
Ummah. Without You embraces an even more diversified range of songs and
themes.
The
highlight of the album is the track "Forever Palestine", a heartfelt song
expressing the courage and endurance of the Palestinian people in these times of
hardship and suffering. "All I know is that what's happening in Gaza is
disgusting, degrading, humiliating and the world aught to be truly ashamed of
itself for standing by and allowing these atrocities take place. Only history
will judge how these events will be interpreted and understood in 10-15 years.
One wonders, would historians refer to it as a Holocaust?" said
Sami.
Of
the other songs in the album, Sallou
is a beautiful synthesis of four different languages taking a different
angle on the Danish cartoons controversy, while He is There, Without You, and Anything For You, all written by
renowned British singer and songwriter Conner Reeves are songs that remind
people of what they sometimes forget in their busy lives. A Thousand Times is a song about real
friendship, while Not in My Name is
an explosive song denouncing acts of violence - both written by Sami's
longstanding writing partner Bara Kherigi. The song Never Never is influenced by Indian
music and beautifully combines English, Hindi and Turkish. Salutation is a soft and meditative
acapella track. The album also contains the hit single Asma Allah - the melodious ballad that
was pre-released and shot as a music video directed by the renowned director
Hani Osama. All the songs in this album were composed by Sami
Yusuf.
The
album release is also coinciding with the release of 'Sami Yusuf Live At Wembley
Arena' - a DVD of the historical Peace Concert that took place in October 2007.
This concert, billed as the 'Muslim Live 8', drew an audience of 10,000 and made
headline news in the world press.
Sami
Yusuf has reached the hearts of millions of people around the world with his
unique vocal style and meaningful lyrics. Combined album sales for Al-Muallim
and My Ummah exceed 1.3 million copies. Sami is devoutly spiritual and often
uses his art and music as a means of promoting the messages of love, mercy,
peace and tolerance, whilst encouraging Muslim youth to be proud of their
identity.
